Estimates & 5 year Projections

It provides basic demographic variables for the current U.S. population and for 5-year projections of population trends. The current year population estimates are a great addition to your demographic data collection by filling in the gap since the 2010 Census. The population projections build on these, by projecting where population trends are heading in the next 5 years. And with our new Extended Estimates you can see these same variables projected out to 2029 and 2034.

The Estimates and Projections include variables such as total population, population change, total households, race, age, gender, household income, owners, vs. renters, and more. The data from Estimates and Projections is available in 5 geographies: states, counties, tracts, block groups, and zip code data. You can also run a radius around a latitude/longitude point.

If you need more data than the basic current year estimates and 5-year projections provide, then you need the Estimates Professional. This product includes all the variables on the standard Estimates and Projections product and also expands on them to look at complete breakouts of sex by age by race, household types and household size, median incomes by race, and more in both the current year estimates and the 5-year projections. Our new Extended Estimates Professional will have all of these same variables and geographies – but projected out 10 and 15 years in addition to the 5 years.

The Estimates Professional has educational attainment and school enrollment tables broken out by age and gender. In addition, the Estimates Professional data set has consumer expenditures and demographic profiles. The Estimates Professional is available in 5 geographies: states, counties, tracts, block groups, and zip codes. You can also run a radius around a latitude/longitude point. Estimates Premium has all of the data from the Estimates/Projections and the Estimates Professional and then also includes information about Poverty, Family Income, Employment and additional Housing variables. Estimates Premium will cover the current year and the 5 year projection, and now with the new Extended Estimates Premium you can see out 10 and 15 years as well.

The Estimates Premium also has the same 5 geographies: states, counties, tracts, block groups, and zip code data. You can also run a radius around a latitude/longitude point. If you already own Estimates/Projections or Estimates Premium and you want to upgrade to Estimates Premium you can return the disk and just pay the difference.
