Educational Attainment for Americans over aged 25.

Of the nearly 232 million people over the age of 25 in the US  more than half have a high school education.  This number includes those that also have a couple
of years of college but have not graduated.  An additional 36% have at least a college degree (this includes those with a masters, PhD or
professional degree like law or medicine) – this according to the US Census Bureau’s American Community Survey 2023.

Education attainment

When we look at the level of college and professional degrees by gender and race there are some interesting differences.  For example, on average women have
3% higher college and advance degree rates (34% of men have a college or advanced degree whereas 37% of women do).  This holds true across every race
except Asian, where 3% more Asian men have a college or advanced degree than Asian women.  But Asian people have a much higher rate so even
the Asian women’s lower number is much higher than any other race or gender’s educational attainment.
