The Census Reference Package is available as a combination of CDs and DVDs. You can buy the national version in DVD and CD, which includes a single DVD with all of the 2000 Long Form plus 10 CDs of additional 1970, 1980, 1990, and 2000 census data. The advantage of a single DVD version of 2000 Long Form is so users can run national level data and maps. You must have a DVD reader to read both CD and DVD.   If you do not have a DVD reader or only wish to purchase a single state, then order the package on CD. The national version comes on 14 CDs and a single state version comes on 8 CDs.
